Why Armor?
Lets face it, balancing is such a neat trick! Two wheels, and at any speed! Unfortunately, if this balancing act stops while we are riding, for whatever reason, the rider finds him or herself still moving against unfriendly surroundings.

For abrasion protection, motorcyclists have for years worn leather jackets.  Only in recent years have manufacturers recognized that by providing armor protection at strategic points of the body significant benefits are obtained in absorbing impact shock - as you land on your shoulder for instance.

In the USA, there are no quality standards regarding the performance of this armor, unlike helmets, so most manufacturers simply fit foam panels which look good, but with doubtful absolute performance. Imagine a Yamaha R1 with a Briggs & Stratton engine. Looks great until you ride it!
Why BOHN?


In Europe there is a European Standard covering motorcycle protective clothing and the performance of materials used. In this context we are considering the ability of armor to absorb and redistribute energy, rather than transfer it through to the body.

Bohn are leaders in body protection. It's all they do. They do not make lines of leathers or waterproof suits. They are exclusively interested in body protection. So they have no interest in selling cheap armor in an expensive suit. In addition to Bohn Back Protectors and armored shirts and pants, Bohn Armor is specified in many USA & Overseas suits and jackets.

Bohn Body Armor products are sourced in the UK, Europe and USA depending on product type and application. We use many manufacturers who are leaders in the field of body protection. We no longer recommend or promote Knox armor. We have switched to the more comprehensive construction and absorption provided by the Bohn Zorb polycarbonate system for shoulder/arm & knee applications - this is of course CE approved.
    




New Polycarbonate Armor - BOHN ZORB


BOHN ZORB is a revolutionary polycarbonate armor composite available for fitting into suits & jackets, as well as standard fitting in the Bohn Bodyguard Shirts and Pants. The strength, lightness and energy absorption capabilities of polycarbonate construction has long been recognized in aircraft and motorsport industries, but its' use in body protection is a groundbreaking first.

The polycarbonate is constructed as a sandwich with comfortable outer absorbent PE foam and polycarbonate and rubber based foam inside. Each insert is preformed for the placement, and in the case of elbows/forearm and knee/shin, is articulated to provide unbroken protection coverage. The result is a comfortable, formed armor section you can wear all day which will give you excellent protection.
 
Bohn Armor in Jackets and Suits


We are now in a position to supply this armor for inclusion in USA supplied Jackets and Suits.  If you are ordering clothing this year, you can ask your vendor to include Bohn Armor.  We can supply the vendor or consumer.
 
Can I fit Bohn Armor in my current suit or Jacket?


Ideally, a suit should be made with pockets to fit the armor segments. It is possible that Bohn Armor may fit your existing pockets, or it may be necessary to modify your pockets with a little needlework.  A slight trimming of the armor is also an option.  Alternatively, you can attach the armor using velcro to your suit or jacket.
