In the motorcycle industry, we feel the effects of the global recession just as much as our customers do.
And this recession is an Equal Opportunity
Recession - unlike previous ones I've experienced, this time State and
Government workers, Police & Fire employees have been cut back and laid off,
as well as business and commerce employees.
So it has the attention of us all.
While some areas of the motorcycle industry have seen big declines (think high end custom Harley's), our business and many aftermarket companies are faring pretty well.
In fact in difficult times, many riders do decide to be a bit more cautious - perhaps keeping their bike a year longer and upgrade their gear - and for us - protective gear.
Customers want to see
value.
1: At the time of purchase - we've put a lot of
effort into packages and combo deals, and they have proved popular - especially
Duo Deals on pants and shorts (him & her?).
You save $33 on 2 pairs of Adventure Pants. Now's a great time to
spring for them!
www.actionstation.com/catalog/proddetail.php?prod=BGL-Duo
2: But most importantly the customers want value from getting full use out of their gear. We think a lot about versatility of our products when we design and manufacture them - we want you to use them again and again, season after season.
But 160,000
miles??
This brings me around to a great testimonial
we received a year or so ago from Lou Wissenbach.
And a huge embarrassment (I'll get to that in
a minute).
He sent in a full page report and
pictures, describing how much he loved his Bohn Adventure Pants - been to Alaska
twice, on road, off road and found uses we had not even thought of.
But it was after the project was
completed and I was on my way home that I wore them through Death Valley at 115
degrees (F) one afternoon, then up over the pass to Yosemite in the icy early
morning of the following day. That's when Bohn "Under" Armor pants
were permanently integrated into my touring outfit. They just plain
worked.
...the only "crash"
testimony I can offer was on a primitive road deep in the Cascade
.........
....No problem. The armor
did it's job.
.....But the bonus you don't
advertise is that my ............
......Bohn has met, no, exceeded,
those expectations...........
........I'm ordering another pair
because .......
You can see the whole unedited letter and pictures here www.actionstation.com/6yrs160kmiles.html.
My
Embarrassment......
If you've already clicked the link, you'll have
seen what a priceless and thorough recommendation it is for the Bohn
Adventure Pants - its a huge story that cannot be shortened. And that's the
problem, we have a testimonial section on our site, where we quote a sentence or two from
customer's reports..... I did not know what to do with this, so it got filed
away! What a waste of a great story.
I should have MADE SPACE for Lou to share his story.
So we have a page for Lou now, and I know it tells a
better story about the Adventure Pants than a page of our sales pitch could
ever do - so check it out!

Mystery Photo Competition - Help Needed - Win a Pair of New Bohn Extreme Shorts

A great proportion of our customers
are BMW riders. I came across this photo above of a very strange bodied Airhead
BMW that looks like it's growing a wing over the LH cylinder. Or a seat. Beemer
riders often study the marquee for decades - so here's the chance to show your
knowledge.
Or creative imagination.
Whatever, I'll give a free pair of our hot new Xtreme Shorts to the Best
Answer!
